Fruitland, Idaho – Wilford Lee McConkey (Willie), 96, died in Edgewood Assisted Dwelling in Fruitland Idaho on October 13, 2021. He was born on February 7, 1925, to Charles and Mattie (Nash) McConkey in a turf home on the Sandhills of Oshkosh, Nebraska. When he was 13, the Nebraska household moved to the Oregon Slope space, close to Ontario. He went to highschool in Ontario. When he was 16 years previous, he joined the US Navy with the consent of his mom and served within the Pacific from 1942 to 1946 throughout World Warfare II. He was a Seaman First Class Gunner on the SS Pulpit Rock, an oil tanker.
In 1948 he married Pauline Adams they usually had 4 kids. They later divorced and he married Jane Flegel Zittercob in 1965. As a newlyweds, they moved to a brand new home in Fruitland with 5 youngsters.

In dying he was preceded by his dad and mom Charles and Mattie McConkey, his brother Max McConkey and a stepson Jerry Zittercob. A funeral service is deliberate for a later date.
