Weippe Hilltop Museum and Heritage Days are a hit | Top Stories

We had great participation and nice weather for our season opening 2021 at the Museum Days of the Weippebergmuseum. Saturday, June 5th, was a fun day that started with the sale of baked goods, lots of delicious dishes of all kinds. At 11 o’clock we opened the food stand with grilled hamburgers and hot dogs with potato salad, chips and drinks. We also had Nachos Supreme. Everyone was full and then got a piece of cake from the cake shop.

At 2 p.m. the Blue Grass Band began entertaining the crowd and the games began.

First it was the turn of the egg to be thrown. Sally Marks, President, tossed the children the eggs from the balcony. There were eggs everywhere and the kids were trying to get an egg filled with cash. Winners were: Hayley Aeschliman $ 2, Everly Aeschliman $ 5, Parker Aeschliman $ 2. Roslyn Umphenour $ 4, Gayla Umphenour $ 6. Piper Dennison $ 6, Grand Prize Winner was Gunner Dennison who won $ 15.

Next up was the water balloon throwing game. Children played first. Parker and Haylee Aeschliman each won $ 5 (see photo).

Since it was a hot day, Sally threw the first water balloon and met the unsuspecting Cindy Rose. All the adults and children had a great old-fashioned water balloon fight. Needless to say, Sally got the worst when they all banded together and drowned her.

Next up was the Corn Hole tournament. Several partners got together and the competition started with a few playoffs.

The winners were Dawn Cloin and Cindy Rose (see photo).

Everyone had a lot of fun. Some went out and got another burger or hot dog and kept listening to the band, a great way to end the day.

Sunday was the big raffle everyone had been waiting for.

At 2 p.m. sharp, the crowd gathered in the museum, where Piper Dennison and Tayla Umphenour’s tickets were placed on the bass drum to toss and draw the winning tickets.
