MASON CITY-Lyle E. Day, 93, of Mason Metropolis, Iowa, died on Sunday June 21, 2020 in Flagstaff, Arizona.

Memorial providers shall be held on Saturday, October 9, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at Memorial Park Cemetery, 11495 265th St, Mason Metropolis, Iowa.

Lyle Edward Day was born on November 7, 1926 in Sheffield, Iowa, the eldest son of LeRoy and Nettie (Wearda) Day. He graduated from Sheffield Excessive Faculty in 1945 and served within the US Air Power from July 26, 1945 to November 11, 1946.

On April 18, 1952, he married Mavis Arlene Hunt. This marriage resulted in two kids. Larry Eugene and Helen Arlene.

After his discharge from the Military, he labored for JE Decker and Sons / Armor in Mason Metropolis, Sioux Metropolis and Fort Madison. He additionally labored at Large Bear of Mason Metropolis. He served with the 1133rd Military Nationwide Guard for over 25 years.

On December 1, 1971, he married Dorothy Ann Siewert. This relationship resulted in two daughters, Kimberly Kay and Jennifer Jo.

Lyle was very energetic with the Boy Scouts of America and volunteered with many organizations together with the Foster Grandparents, Hawkeye Harvest Meals Financial institution, and the Salvation Military. Lyle was an avid sports activities fan and particularly beloved Hawkeye soccer and Twins baseball. He by no means met a stranger and at all times had a superb story to inform. Lyle spent a number of years wintering in Arizona together with his daughter. He beloved his kids and particularly his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He’s survived by this lady Dorothy; Kids’s Day Larry (Karen), Mason Metropolis; Helen Tenhundfeld, Vancouver, Washington; Kim Day, Phoenix, Arizona; and Jennifer (Brett) Branan, Swaledale, Iowa. Three Granddaughters, Allison Day, Mason Metropolis; Ann (Grant) Gilson, Camas, Washington; and Amber (Matthew) Andersen, Mason Metropolis. 4 great-grandchildren: Abigail Wooden and Hunter Gilson of Camas, Washington, and Olivia and Paislee Andersen, Mason Metropolis, and an expectant granddaughter who shall be born in January 2022. One brother, Martin Day, Thornton, Colorado, together with many nieces and nephews.

Lyle precedes his mother and father, a sister, Margaret Bolk, and a brother, Clifford Day, in loss of life.
