O’Fallon, Illinois – Rev. Johnnie Marie Swindull Lampkin, 85, of O’Fallon, IL, died at Memorial East Hospital on Sunday, August 8, 2021. She was born on April 16, 1936 in Cellular, AL. After graduating from Vigor Excessive College in Prichard, AL, she attended Millsaps School in Jackson, MS, the place she met her beloved husband of 57 years. Johnnie began out as a social employee in Atlanta, Georgia whereas her husband was finishing the seminar. She continued her schooling and have become one of many first 4 Methodist pastors in Mississippi. She devoted her life to serving the Lord and nurturing and coaching a number of church buildings throughout the state. In her later years, she and her husband settled in O’Fallon, IL and attended the O’Fallon First United Methodist. Up to now, Johnnie has served in each ward organizations and the Church. Within the Nineteen Seventies she helped begin among the earliest Meals on Wheels packages, was a previous president of the Altrusa Membership in Tupelo, MS, attended and was the Pink Hat Society in Gulfport, MS and O’Fallon, IL recognized for “tread the boards” often from school by way of her golden years (and cherished it). She was additionally an avid reader and cherished arts and crafts and handed that zeal on to her kids.
Johnnie was preceded in dying by her mother and father; John Lewis and Helen Agnes Swindull (nee Cleveland) and their beloved husband; Rev. Dr. William R. Lampkin (“Dr. Invoice”).
Johnnie is survived by her three kids; Jennifer (Joseph) DeFelice from Vancouver, WA, Eric (Deborah) Lampkin from Caledonia, MS, Julie (Matt Miller) Schwartz from O’Fallon, IL, and 4 grandchildren; Ellen Marie Self, Camilla, Andrew and Thomas Schwartz.
A visitation will happen on Thursday, August 12, 2021 at 12:00 p.m. at O’Fallon First United Methodist Church, 504 E Hwy 50, O’Fallon, IL 62269. The funeral will start at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. observe Don Lengthy in workplace. The service can be streamed on YouTube.
