Joanne grew up with 4 different siblings in a one-bedroom farmhouse. Sister Mary Ellen remembers Joanne hiding behind a hay bale and studying a guide, whereas Sister Susan remembers child oil and sunbathing. Brother John stated Joanne would actually hearken to him whereas Brother Robert stated she would let the calf he was driving on after poking it within the butt.
