VANCOUVER, WA (KPTV) – After serving greater than a thousand missions in his eight years with the Vancouver Police Division, Ok-9 Ivar was on his final day of responsibility this week.
VPD mentioned Ivar retired on Wednesday and can spend his golden years along with his canine handler, Cpl. Ryan Starbuck.
Ivar was chosen as a Ok-9 again in September 2013 and authorized three months later. In 2018, Ivar was chosen as a SWAT Ok-9 by VPD. Throughout his time within the division, Ivar took half in 1,236 missions.
Two of Ivar’s missions adopted chase suspects in September 2018 and September 2020.
With Ivar’s retirement, VPD plans to fill the VPD place within the subsequent few months.
